An official demonstration of packet data transmission with Sepura’s TETRA mobile radio, the SRM2000, will take place in the Belgian town of Sint-Niklaas today.
The event will be attended by the Mayor of Sint-Niklaas, the local Police Force and the Belgian media. Representatives from ASTRID, the Belgian Public Safety network, Sepura and Simoco Benelux, Sepura’s long standing Brussels-based partner, will also participate in this public demonstration.
Developed specifically for use in the public safety market, Sepura’s SRM2000 TETRA mobile radio supports dual control consoles and multiple data applications.
The radio’s open systems interface is compatible with data and message terminals. In addition, the purpose-designed SRM2000 motorcycle solution includes an intelligent mechanism with a display for controlling radios, sirens, emergency lights and warning displays on Police and Paramedic motorcycles.
The radio’s GPS receiver tells the control room the vehicle’s precise location: thanks to this, controllers no longer need to ask if units are suitably positioned to attend a particular incident.
Roger Dowling, Deputy Managing Director of Sepura, said: “This event is extremely important to us as it reinforces our position as TETRA technology leader and reaffirms our commitment to continue to meet the needs of the public safety market in Belgium.”
Benelux Simoco Benelux, previously part of Simoco International and Philips Professional Systems, became a Belgian company in 1998. It specialises in providing analog and digital radio communications solutions to business and public safety customers.
Simoco Benelux is an approved supplier of TETRA radios for use on the ASTRID network and the Authorised Service Centre for Sepura terminals in Benelux and France.
