Sepura has won a contract to supply TETRA hand-held radios to the Metropolitan Police Agency of Incheon (IMPA) in South Korea.
Incheon, a major city 32 miles south of Seoul, is known world-wide for its international airport and shipping port.
This police contract was won in conjunction with Korea Microwave Technology (KMT), Sepura’s partner in South Korea.
IMPA has ordered over 1000 handportable terminals operating at 800 MHz. The South Korean police force has chosen Sepura’s SRP2000 hand-held terminal for its robustness and light weight.
Sepura’s Korean User Interface, one of the first on the TETRA market, and the radio’s cost-effectiveness were also key factors in the decision making process for the Incheon Police Agency.
In addition, the South Korean Police Force was particularly impressed with Sepura radios’ data capabilities which, by enabling officers to access police databases remotely, will reduce administration time and improve their performance considerably.
Kevin Graham, Asia Pacific Regional Director of Sepura, said: “This prestigious win with IMPA is an important endorsement of Sepura’s efforts in Asia. The South Korean TETRA market is strategically very important to Sepura and this is demonstrated by our recent appointments of Korea-based personnel.”
