Acisa, Sepura’s official distributor in Spain has won a contract to supply TETRA hand-held and mobile radios to the Catalunya Department of Home Affairs in Spain. The Catalunya Autonomous Government has decided to withdraw the Tetrapol network and to equip the Mossos d’Esquadra, the elite police force that guarantees security in the Barcelona region, with Sepura TETRA radios. These state of the art terminals feature colour displays, GPS functionality as well as Air Interface and End to End Encryption. For the first phase of the order Acisa and Sepura will deliver 1,500 SRP3000 hand-held and 600 SRM2000 mobile terminals operating at 380MHz. Over the next three years, the Government of Catalunya will transfer all of its 12,000 Police Officers from the Tetrapol to the TETRA network. This contract was awarded to Acisa and Sepura in the face of fierce competition from other companies in the TETRA sector. The customer strongly valued the technical aspects of the proposal by Acisa and Sepura, their experience in the field of professional radio communications, the short lead time and high performance of the Sepura terminals. This win will enable Acisa and Sepura to consolidate their place in the Spanish TETRA market and position them to win future prestigious contracts. Acisa has also won a contract to supply a further 160 SRP3000 hand-held terminals, featuring Sepura’s leading sGPS™ module, to the Bomberos de Catalunya (Fire Brigade) who are already enthusiastic Sepura TETRA terminal users with a fleet of over 2,700 Sepura hand-helds and mobiles. Jens Thostrup, International Sales Director for Sepura commented ”This is a landmark success for Sepura, we hope that this contract will pave the way for future business in the region”.
