Sepura has received an additional order for SRP2000 TETRA hand portables from the UK Army.
The first order of 1,800 terminals was deployed over one year ago and the additional units will become operational towards the end of 2005 and the beginning of 2006.
The UK Army selected the light and robust SRP2000 as it was the most suitable TETRA hand portable to meet their diverse operational requirements. The principal use of the radios is the reporting of major incidents and all the necessary communications associated with such occurrences.
Major Tim Langford said: “We opted for the Airwave Service as the network was the most suitable to fill the ‘capability gap’ left by the MOULD* VHF radio network that is about to be decommissioned after 20 years of service.”
“In addition, Sepura has supported us in the development of a special car kit for use in our vehicle fleet to aid easy installation and de-installation.”
David Taylor, Sepura's UK Sales Director, said: “The second order from the UK Army shows that we are meeting the needs of military customers and confirms our status as the leading supplier of TETRA terminals to the Armed Forces worldwide.”
He added: “The SRP2000, which now counts more than 135,000 users worldwide, was designed for public safety and the military. This is indeed a measure of the quality of our engineering and manufacturing.”
