Sepura radios on London Underground

*

Sepura TETRA radios are in use for the first time on the London Underground following the roll-out of the Airwave Network on the entire underground system.

Emergency service personnel on routine patrol, or when responding to a major incident, can now communicate using their Sepura radios anywhere on the tube network.

The predominant user of the TETRA service on the London Underground is British Transport Police, which has been using Sepura radios for several years and has a rolling programme to refresh its existing fleet.

In the capital, Sepura radios are also used by the City of London Police; Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service. All users are able to communicate within their own organisations and where necessary to interoperate with one another.

Richard Redgrave, Regional Director for Sepura, said: “This excellent news enables Sepura to play a vital role in helping to ensure the safety of the millions of people travelling on London Underground.”
